My Dear TRT Family,
It’s been a roller coaster ride as each month in 2020 presented us with yet another transition from our Rabbis’ retirement, to cantor transition, to moving all our programs online due to the pandemic. We worked tirelessly to adjust and support each other throughout this turbulent time. No doubt, our resiliency is a testament to our belief in Jewish values.
We are thrilled to work with two of the best and nationally renowned Rabbis and Cantors in Rabbi Marc Disick and Cantor Lisa Levine who have already shared with us beautiful services during the summer. Together, we have reimagined our High Holidays and started planning ways in which our congregation can RE-define who we are as we move towards the future.
Our new normal presents quite a few logistical issues; yet, I am excited to work with our immensely talented clergy, board members, and congregants to resolve our challenges (for example: remediation of mold in our building), RE-invent our Jewish future as a community in the long run and RE-energize our High Holidays.
COVID-19 will have a major effect on our High Holidays, the Superbowl of Jewish events. Considering the NYC Marathon is not taking place and big-time sports are wrestling with continuing their seasons, it is clear that big in-person events are not safe as long as health risks are still high. Our goal is to create meaningful, spiritual holidays using a virtual platform, while we ensure the health and wellbeing of our members and clergy. We have hired professionals to help us in the preparation and production of these high-quality virtual events to ensure they will provide a novel and fabulous virtual experience for all. Since this is a new experience for many of us, we recognize that assistance may be needed. Information about how to reach our help desk will be sent to you after you register. If you need help registering online, please call our office at (732)308-0055.
As you will see in the online registration at hh.trt.org, we have a digital Wall of Remembrance on our website, replacing paper. We hope you will make a commitment to L’Dor V’Dor through Tzedakah by taking part in the Yizkor memorial, purchasing greeting cards, and pledging your HH appeal through the Wall of Honor. Now, more than ever, we will be remembered digitally from generation to generation. The vitality of our community is based on your generosity.
By doing so, we will incorporate your Jewish values with the intrinsic values of our kind, caring, and intelligent community – L’Dor V’Dor.
