The weekend of July 10-11, 2021 marked a solemn yet exciting step for TRT in its journey to becoming a joined congregation with Temple Shaari Emeth.
We closed one chapter, saying goodbye to our home for the past 35+ years and paying tribute to the dedicated and loyal employees who have been the backbone of our TRT family. Congregants were able to share their favorite stories and memories abut TRT and write prayers for the future of our new congregation. It was emotional for many, yet also filled with hope and positivity. On Sunday, our congregants gathered at TRT with our Past Presidents, Rabbi Disick, and our new Rabbi, Rabbi Panken, to take the Torahs from the TRT ark in a beautiful and memorable ceremony. A procession of cars, escorted by the Marlboro, Freehold, and Manalapan police departments, proceeded to Temple Shaari Emeth so we could deliver the first of our sacred items to our new spiritual home.
At Shaari Emeth, we were met with a large crowd of friendly TSE members, who cheered and held up welcoming signs that warmed our hearts. A special Chuppah was set to welcome our Torahs (the bride), and clergy and lay leaders shared their hopes for our future ahead as a strong and thriving Reform Jewish community in Western Monmouth County. We followed the Torahs to its new home in the sanctuary and afterward danced the Hora together to mark the first of what will be many special occasions as one TSE family. If you missed it, you could watch it here.
Come join us at our new home, as we integrate with Temple Shaari Emeth. For information on all upcoming services and events, please visit https://shaariemeth.org
