After 36 wonderful years, Rabbi Weber has announced his intentions to retire in June 2020 (see his letter to the congregation).  The TRT Board has decided to hire a 1 year interim Rabbi to guide us through the process of recruiting and selecting a new, permanent Rabbi.  A search committee has been formed to identify the interim Rabbi who will succeed Rabbi Weber. For more information, see this letter from our Temple president and this set of Frequently Asked Questions.

Our Search Committee encompasses a diverse group of congregants who are committed to representing the entire Temple Rodeph Torah community. The group includes representatives from long-term members to younger families and everyone in between.

The process of selecting an Interim Rabbi may seem daunting. Fortunately, the selection process is clearly outlined by the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR), which is the rabbinic organization of the American Reform movement. Within the next month, we will take the first step by submitting our application to the CCAR.  The Search Committee will then embark on a methodical process of reviewing resumes, interviewing applicants by phone and video link, and eventually in person.

The mission of our Committee is to recommend one Interim Rabbi candidate to the Board for approval.  At that time, we will arrange for the perspective Interim Rabbi to visit TRT and lead a Shabbat service for the congregation. All congregants will be invited to attend the service, meet the perspective rabbi, and give the Search Committee feedback.

The final step is for a special congregation meeting to be scheduled, and the Congregation will be charged with making the final decision.

We will update the TRT website with our progress and have included some Frequently Asked Questions.
