Center for a Jewish Future High School Program

We offer an innovative High School program for grades 8-12, engaging older students in issues including ethical responsibilities, peer pressure, and what they might expect as they pack and prepare for their college years. Students engage in a three year program leading to Confirmation at the end of 10th Grade, followed by a two year program leading to Graduation at the end of 12th Grade.

Our school provides a place where Jewish teenagers can claim their independence and acquire the knowledge and skills to live as Jews in the 21st century.  They can dream, explore, challenge, and investigate as they find the relevance of Judaism to their own search for a pathway through life.

Eighth and ninth graders have the opportunity to select their courses from a variety of innovative electives. Each course is designed to enhance the students’ personal connection to Judaism, their role in the community and their Judaic commitment to Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. Our 8th and 9th grade retreat enables our TRT teens to interact, connect with and learn from other Jewish teenagers throughout New Jersey.

Our 10th grade Confirmation program takes the foundation established in previous years and integrates it into our temple community and the community as a whole. Their CONNECTION to Jewish tradition, history, ethics and Israel will be explored and discussed through guest speakers and programs. Their role in the COMMUNITY will be reinforced by working closely with the TRT Social Action Committee and various outside agencies. The final third of the Confirmation year will be devoted to these students demonstrating their COMMITMENT by creating a personalized and creative Confirmation service.

Our 11th and 12th grade program, Siyyum meets seven times throughout the year. The classes are taught by Rabbi Weber and Cantor Alexander and concentrate on preparing for and packing for college. We reinforce the importance of continued connection and commitment to Judaism as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives and entering a new community.

Classes are held on Mondays from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Our Confirmation Class Essays are available online, and we invite you to read them.
